Director of Social Services SUMMARY The Membership Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and implementing membership services programs while providing direct supervision to adult education classes.
This role requires a strong understanding of education justice and the ability to build partnerships.
La Uni n del Pueblo Entero, LUPE is a social justice, community-building, membership organization, founded by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta.
LUPE provides free and culturally- responsive education programs to satisfy the needs of the Spanish-speaking community of the Rio Grande Valley.
LUPE is seeking an energetic, eloquent, and compassionate Membership Coordinator LUPE has a sister organization, LUPE Votes, a separate but related, nonprofit organization exempting federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Although LUPE and LUPE Votes share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Rio Grande Valley and nationally, they are separate organizations with their own boards of directors and a set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations.
This does not affect salary or benefits.
MEMBERSHIP SERVICES MANAGEMENT Function as the primary owner and manager of membership retention, engagement, and renewal.
Effectively strategize and execute membership recruitment goals utilizing data-driven decision making.
Monitor, guide, and implement goals and objectives for membership services and membership retention.
Work to expand memberships services and benefits under the direction of the Director of Social Services.
Prepare and distribute membership welcome packages.
Facilitate and train staff in new membership orientations that align with current services and LUPE movement building initiatives.
Conduct meetings and support in training development and initiatives related to membership needs.
Manage insurance registration and create protocols for insurance registration.
Handle beneficiary insurance claims, review documentation and ensure adherence to company policies regulations.
Cultivate and maintain excellent member relationships.
ADULT EDUCATION & INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT Oversee the day-to-day operations of the adult education program, including scheduling, enrollment, communication, and curriculum accommodations.
Maintain accurate records of Adult Education student progress, attendance, and assessment results in Every Action.
Provide guidance and support to instructors and volunteers, including training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
Conduct regular observations and evaluations of instructional staff, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success by implementing practices rooted in diversity and inclusion.
Become familiar with the naturalization process and attend training from USCIS to remain up-to-date with current naturalization procedures.
Implement initiatives to support student retention and progress, including monitoring attendance, addressing barriers, and providing additional resources as needed.
Monitor and ensure 100% of Adult Education students are active members.
Establish and maintain a case management system to track student progress, enrollment, and important matters related to their citizenship journey such as Conduct exit interviews with students who complete the program and those who drop out in order to receive feedback.
Develop and implement strategies to attract and recruit potential students for the citizenship program such as information sessions, citizenship drives, interview workshops, etc.
Coordinate outreach efforts to community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to LUPE's membership.
This includes working closely with local USCIS field officers.
PLANNING & ADMINISTRATION Monitor and evaluate both adult education and membership services program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to meet learner needs and program goals through written progress reports.
Create quarterly/periodic outcome-based evaluations for membership services that includes but is not limited to, outputs of events with geographical and demographic information, and recommendations.
Create biannual narrative reports with data analysis, and review and provide feedback on program budget as needed.
Perform mid-year and end-of-year evaluations utilizing a LUPE specific metric to ensure equitable and streamlined evaluations.
MANAGEMENT Manage and coordinate the activities of different departments, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
Foster a positive work environment, promoting employee engagement, growth, and development.
Establish clear performance expectations and goals for employees, ensuring alignment with the company's objectives.
Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide feedback, address concerns, and foster professional growth.
Implement performance management processes, including performance reviews, coaching, and recognition programs.
Identify and nurture talent within the organization, identifying high-potential employees and creating development plans to enhance their skills and capabilities.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws, promoting a fair and inclusive work environment.
Resolve conflicts and address employee relations issues promptly and professionally, striving to maintain a harmonious and collaborative atmosphere.
Collaborate with HR to facilitate recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes, ensuring the acquisition of top talent to support the organization's growth.
Monitor employee engagement levels and implement strategies to boost morale and job satisfaction.
Lead by example, promoting a positive and supportive company culture that aligns with the organization's values and fosters employee loyalty and retention.
Supervision of adult education instructors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; Education experience of at minimum 6 months in an educational setting; Familiarity, commitment, and sensitivity to Movement principals and community issues.
Strong proficiency in English and Spanish.
Experience working with adult students from a variety of backgrounds, including those with limited formal education and/or literacy skills, strongly preferred.
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
A team player with the ability to work with diverse populations and socio-economic groups.
Deep understanding of the English language and general understanding of language teaching, preferred.
Proficiency with computers, including MS PowerPoint, Excel and Google Suite.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
